After having made our way to Seward we go to visit the Exit Glacier.

Exit Glacier near Seward

The hike up hill for about a mile to the foot of the glacier and get to stand right next to it.  What amazed me the most was how quickly the water was running from it.

Today we ate our fresh caught halibut which of course tasted better then the store bought one.

Looking towards Seward
Seward, like much of southern Alaska, suffered tremendous damage during the Good Friday Earthquake in 1964.  9.2.  The area suffered earth liquefaction, an entire strip of the shoreline dropped off into the sea.  An major tsunami followed.  In Seward they had additional damage from a huge fire caused by oil storage containers exploding.  Till that point Seward was the major shipping port for Alaska.  After the quake the government funded the building of a port in Anchorage.
